The 26/11 attacks, a night that shook the nation, became a defining moment in Kobid Sinha’s journey, testing his courage and resilience like never before. Little did he know that on that horrifying night, something far more chilling than the cocktails he mastered would be mixed into the story of his life.
As Kobid prepared to sign off from his duty at Vetro, Oberoi Mumbai, the night took a sinister turn. Gunshots shattered the air, and Kobid found himself face-to-face with terror. A terrorist pointed a gun at a lady, ending her life before his eyes. Kobid was shocked but before he could process the situation, another terrorist pointed a gun at him. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Kobid and his team underwent a harrowing ordeal, encountering terror multiple times inside the hotel premises and later on the road. Despite the danger looming over them, they demonstrated remarkable courage and quick thinking, seeking refuge in a parking lot of Inox, just behind the hotel, from 2 am to 5 am. Every second felt like an eternity, with the fear of being discovered looming over them, unsure if they would be the next target of the relentless brutality that unfolded throughout the night. Despite facing imminent danger thrice that night, Kobid managed to survive, thanks to his quick thinking and sheer luck.




This is the story of Kobid Sinha, a middle-class boy with many dreams. Despite the terrifying ordeal, Kobid remained determined to excel in his career and make a difference in the industry. After the 26/11 attacks, Kobid returned to work, determined not to let fear dictate his life. His experiences during that night shaped his perspective on life and his career, making him more determined to succeed. He continued to hone his skills, mastering the art of mixology and customer service. Today he is a successful General Manager in the hospitality industry which is nothing short of inspiring. His story is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and a passion for learning.


Mixing Cocktails and Courage: Kobid Sinha's Journey After 26/11
Growing up, Kobid's father worked in the accounts department of a private firm, instilling in him the values of dedication and responsibility. Encouraged by a distant uncle who was a faculty member at IHM Kolkata, Kobid decided to pursue Hotel Management. In 2004, Kobid joined IHM Bhubaneshwar, where he stayed at a hostel and enjoyed his three years of education. Despite facing financial constraints, he took an education loan to fund his studies, which he later paid back through his earnings. His time at IHM Bhubaneshwar had a profound impact on his grooming and mindset, exposing him to a mix of people and cultures that shaped his thought process.
After completing his education, Kobid's career took off when he joined The Park, Kolkata, as a F&B Trainee in 2007. He then moved to Mumbai in October 2008 and joined the pre-opening team of Trident Bandra Kurla as a bartender. His experience at Trident Bandra Kurla was transformative, as he learned valuable skills and gained hands-on experience in the hospitality industry. Kobid's dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed. His career took him to the Maldives, where he worked with prestigious organizations like Shangri-la’s Villingili Resort & Spa and The Residence Maldives, earning multiple promotions along the way. During his six years in the Maldives, Kobid was promoted multiple times, showcasing his dedication and leadership skills.
After his stint in the Maldives, Kobid returned to India and joined JW Marriott, Kolkata, as the pre-opening Beverage Manager. He later moved to Courtyard Marriott Raipur as the Food and Beverage Manager. Despite facing challenges, such as having to return to Kolkata due to family issues, Kobid continued to excel in his career.


Throughout his career, Kobid has been inspired by several individuals who have played pivotal roles in his professional development. People like Mr. Rahul Korgaokar, his first Beverage Manager at Trident Bandra Kurla, Mr. Manuj Ralhan, who selected him for Shangri-la Maldives, and Mr. Puneet Dutta, whom he worked closely with, have mentored him and instilled in him the importance of a positive attitude, never saying no, and being eager to learn

Today, Kobid Sinha stands tall as the Group General Manager with Miyara Hospitality, overseeing popular establishments like Ozora, Mbar, and Stryck in Kolkata. These venues have become synonymous with style, innovation, and top-notch hospitality, making them go-to destinations for the vibrant Gen Z crowd. Kobid's path, defined by unwavering passion and a steadfast commitment to excellence, stands as a guiding light for all who aspire to greatness. His tale is a powerful reminder that no matter the obstacles, courage, perseverance, and a positive outlook can conquer any challenge.
